Delighted to hear my newly commissioned song for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day sung by Wellfield Middle School on the ITV New’s last night!
The song titled ‘Ordinary People‘ (this year’s theme) was based on lyrics written by two sisters of a surviving Holocaust family (Marta Josephs and Agi Gilbert) and can be heard sung by two other Newcastle schools here on my Youtube channel. The sheet music will become available on this website soon.

Come and sing songs of Peace, Hope and Joy!
Happy New Year! I’m hosting a number of themed singing workshops during 2023 and the first one is coming up in February!
I’m starting with songs that aren’t too complicated (mostly in 2-parts with accompaniment) which would suit community, school or church choirs.
Full details below. Hope to see you there!

A Day in Nottingham
Yesterday was the very first Choir Community ‘Arrangers Repertoire Day‘ in Nottingham and I was very proud to be involved. Over 20 choir leaders from near and far travelled in to join myself, Abi Moore, Wendy Sergeant and Timothy Allen to sing through new arrangements we have made available at www.choircommunity.net
We each led a short session and gave tips on how to teach the songs to various choirs. It was brilliant to finally meet some of the Choir Community team in person and chat about all things choral! Hoping to do much more of this kind of thing so watch this space!
Winter Carol – a masked performance in Canada

Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia premiere two more works
Fantastic to hear two more of my choral works premiered today by the Chorus of Northern Sinfonia! ‘A City Plum is Not a Plum’ and ‘A Bird Song’ (both settings of Christina Rossetti poems) sounded exactly as I imagined! BRAVO to all involved!
‘Northumberland’ premiere
Thank you and congratulations to Kathryn Davidson and Tynedale Community Choir for a wonderful first performance of my newly commissioned piece ‘Northumberland’ last night at your 20th Birthday Concert at the Queens Hall Arts in Hexham. The song for unaccompanied SATB choir was based on the poem by W. W. Gibson…Hexham’s very own poet! The score will be available here for other choirs to enjoy very soon…
